What an NTC sensor does and why it fails
The NTC converts temperature into resistance the boiler control reads. Failure modes: wire break, connector corrosion, drift out of calibration. Symptoms: erratic burner behaviour, temperature-sensor fault codes, DHW too hot / too cold.
How to choose the right one
- Match the OEM reference where available.
- Match the NTC characteristic (typically 10 kOhm at 25 C) – do not fit a sensor with a different curve.
- Match the physical fitting (clip-on, immersion, threaded).
